Shu Maai: Shu Maai (燒賣)is a traditional dim sum in Hong Kong cuisine. This fun-sized snack, which originated from humble origins, can be traced back to the Yuan dynasty, around 700 years ago. It was invented in the northern regions of China until it slowly spread its fame down south. Upon reaching Hong Kong, its presence was glorified substantially.
Nowadays, it is served as people’s food in dim sum restaurants. The thin wrap is made with flour and water, and it's often filled with ground pork, shrimp and mushrooms. It is then shaped into cup sizes and steamed to perfection.
